The performers:

Catherine Earnshaw and storywheel - Keith Clouston (aka storywheel) is a distinguished composer and musician whose collaborators range from Natacha Atlas to the Royal Shakespeare Company. Catherine Earnshaw is a vocalist struck from the same mould as Shirley Collins. Keith plays the oud while Catherine contributes haunting vocals on a project that melds traditional English folk songs with Middle Eastern music sensibilities.

Jenan Younis - Jenan is a London-based comedian of Palestinian and Iraqi descent whose keenly-observed comedy has been described as a slap in the face - so don't sit within arm’s reach. Culturally inappropriate, politically unacceptable and explosively funny. 'Smart, hip comedian - not to be missed' - The List

gooseberry - debut performance for the trio formed by Ligeti Quartet founder and violin virtuoso Mandhira de Saram. gooseberry feature Mandhira (violin), Klaus Bru (flute/saxophones/electronics) and Steve Beresford (electronics/objects). Expect a set of improvised music with electronic noises, strange meters and odd tempos from three of the best performers on the UK experimental music scene.

Hear The Music

Treat yourself on a Tuesday night with these spectacular musicians at the next Hear The Music showcase!

STORYWHEEL is singer-songwriter and oud (Arab lute) player Keith Clouston, mixing Middle East music with original songs and folk music of the British Isles. Tonight he is joined by regular guest, folk singer Catherine Earnshaw.

OUTSIDE KINGS are a two piece alt-blues band from Cambridge made up of two poets/songwriters combining spoken word poetry with acoustic rhythms and licks that find their foundations in blues, funk and rock and roll....

JOHN PRESTON began in the Guildford Punk scene, then stumbled into the bizarre world of Norfolk function bands. A late developer, he realised, he'd left it too late to become a "proper" musician, so fronting his own tribute band was the only option left. John is no longer happy to work for a living as it makes matters worse.
